Ian Lucas

Ian passed away peacefully in his home on December 26, 2020 at the age of 89.

Ian was born on June 5, 1931, and the world was blessed.  He had a twinkle in his eye when he smiled at you.  He was born in Montreal Canada and when he was 4 his mother took him and his brother Ronald back to Scotland.  Ian served in the British Army as a 2nd Lt. in the Royal Artillery during the Korean War.  When Ian was 26 he came back to Canada. In 1998 he moved to Connecticut.  Sylvia and Ian were together for 27 years and was a member of the Rotary Club of New Britain/Berlin.  Sylvia and Ian have been members of the RVF since 2000 when they joined at the Glasgow RI Convention.  They loved traveling in their "big rig".

On Nov. 13 Ian was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), he started chemo, had to stop because of problems, had 4 units of blood to try to build him up to continue treatment, he did not respond to the treatment and things were getting worse, it was decided that he had had enough, he was put on Hospice Dec. 20 and was transported home Dec. 22. Christmas Day he was able to talk to his family on the phone, and his family closeby  was able to visit him. He died Saturday December 26, 2020 and now he is at peace.
